- China rules out Bhramaputra diversion
- A top chinese water resources official ruled out any plan to divert bhramaputra river's waters to tackle water shortages.
- The reason is due to the environmental impacts, technical difficulties and state relations
- But he also said that the government may look out for hydro power projects which unlike the diversion plans would not affect India.
- Fears grew that a ship stuck on a Newzealand reef would break up and release a new wave of pollution
