- India Unveils rota virus vaccine
- An indigenously developed vaccine that could cost just Rs. 50 a dose was unveiled here on Tuesday to treat severe rotavirus diarrhoea, which kills more than one lakh children aged below five in India every year.
- Super priority visa for Indians
- Britain launched a new ‘super-priority’ (same day) visa service for travellers from India, two months after British Prime Minister David Cameron unveiled it during his visit to the country

- Fullbright fellowships tripled after india started funding
- The number of Fulbright fellowships offered to applicants from India and scholars from the U.S. coming to the country tripled after the Union government started funding the programme
- Traditionally, Fulbright was geared towards the humanities, social sciences and the arts. But over the last decade we have seen an overwhelming response from applicants in applied science and the hard sciences.

- Special cell to expedite projects : Chidambaram
- The Union Finance Ministry will constitute a special cell to identify reasons that stalled major infrastructure projects, particularly those in the energy and roads sector, and resolve problems in coordination with the Ministries concerned.
- The projects in power sector involved an investment of around Rs. 6,000 crore each while those in the road sector ranged between Rs. 1,000 crore and Rs. 3,000 crore.

- India backed rail link commissioned
- The first phase of Sri Lanka’s northern railway project, funded by a line of credit facilitated by India, was commissioned
- Tracks along the 43 km-stretch were reconstructed as part of the $800 million-project, being executed by the Indian Railway Ministry’s IRCON International Limited to restore the 252 km-railway line that would connect different parts of the country.
