- Sibal fast tracks clearance for mobile towers in Naxal affected areas
- The ambitious project has been hanging fire for the past three years despite the Home Ministry pushing for it, first under the tenure of P. Chidambaram and now under Sushilkumar Shinde. The project has been long delayed mainly due to costing issues
- First the Union Finance Ministry during Pranab Mukherjee’s raised objections over the cost structure of the project and later difference of opinion emerged between the Department of Telecommunications and Universal Service Obligation Fund (USOF), the body created to boost telecom connectivity in remote and backward areas that is funding the Rs.3000-crore project.
- Manmohan Abe want work on master plan for industrial corridor expedited
- Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe have instructed the authorities concerned to accelerate the work on the Master Plan for development of the Chennai-Bangalore Industrial Corridor by fiscal year 2014.
- Dr. Singh directed the authorities to accelerate the improvement of infrastructure such as ports, roads, bridges and industrial parks, as well as electricity and water supply in Ennore, Chennai and adjoining areas and to monitor the progress, utilising the Tamil Nadu Investment Promotion Programme (TNIPP).
- The TNIPP, to be formed with the assistance of Japan International Co-operation Agency, seeks to increase flow of funds to build quality urban infrastructure in the State. It will work on easing bottlenecks faced by investors through policy changes and correcting infrastructural inadequacies.
