NATIONAL NEWS
  • UAE to boost investment in India
    • The UAE is looking for fresh Indian investments building on the booming trade which peaked at $67 billion last year.
    • UAE is among the top ten investment countries in the world with investment of around $8 billion.
  • India – Pakistani channels to produce singing show
    • Two television channels from India and Pakistan have joined together to host a singing competition, having Atif Aslam and Himesh Reshmiya leading the countries teams.
    • The show named Sur Kshetra, is done by Pakistan based Geo TV and India's Sahara TV
    • The Judges for the competition are Runa Laila of Bangladesh, Asha Bhosle of India and Abida Parveen of Pakistan.

  • Destruction of Ravines poses threat to Indian Wolf
    • The Indian Gray wolf inhabiting the scrub land and the ravines along the banks of the central Indian rivers Yamuna, Chambal, Mahi, Banas needs protection, due to the threat of sand mining, cultivation and levelling of the ravines.
    • A new study by the NGO Tiger watch in the periphery of the Rathombore tiger santuary, has emphasised the need to protect the ravines along with the pastoral communities of Gujjars and Meenas after categorising them as protected community land(PCL)
    • The gray Indian wolf considered to be belonging to an ancient clade which has not mixed with the shallow Mixed dog clade
    • Ravine reclamation is one of the high national priority regions in India. But according to the NGO the ravines are an important ecological attribute in itself and it is important to protect them for the sake of its inhabitants including the wolf.

  • More families adopting family planning measures
    • The total number of family planning measures has increased by 3.5% in the year 2010-2011
    • Condoms are the most prefered method, followed by oral pill and then Intra uterine device
    • The sterilizations have been more or less the same with a decline of 1.2 %
INTERNATIONAL NEWS
  • Aung San Suu Kyi Awarded insignia of the commander of the national order by the French government in recognition of the long struggle for democracy in Myanmar.
