HEADLINES

• Lokpal tabled among protests. Team anna rejects bill

NATIONAL NEWS

• Lokpal bill introduced.
  • The Lokpal will include the prime minister(With some exclusions), Current and former Mps (Except in what they say and vote in the parliament), ministers and all group A,B,C,D officers of the central government.
  • 50% of the members of the lokpal and lokhayukta are from the Scs/STs, OBCs and women
  • NGOs and institutions getting donations of more than 10 lakhs are included.
  • Lokpal to have constitutional status and to be accountable to the parliament.
  • The government nominees will have majority of the one on the selection committee, which will choose the lokpal's chairperson and the eight members.
  • Judiciary and citizens charter not part of the bill and are covered by other laws.

• Coins from Satvahana period unearthed.
  • Coins belonging to the satvahana period has been unearthed in shikaripura Taluk of Shimago district
  • There were some lead and “potin” coins.
  • The potin coins are traced back to the satvahana period and recokned to have been issued by satvahana rulers satakarani and pulmavi.
  • The names of the kings were written in prakrit language with brahmi script and a symbol of elephant drawn on it.
  • The reverse side had the symbol of Ujjani
    
    
• India – Pak to review CMB's after four years.
  • India and pakistan will meet in Islamabad to hold talks on improving and expanding the set of nuclear and convention building measures.
  • The meeting will be held in two phases, the conventional CBMs and the nuclear CBMs.
  • Pakistan India people forum for peace and democracy, a mass based initiative to bring about people to people contact, which will be held in allahabad.
  • The major areas of discussion will be incidents at sea, trade and movement of people across the LOC, Quick return of inadvertant border crossers, pre notification of cruise missiles, discussion to tackle a fukushima type disaster and the no first use commitment.
    
    
• New fundamental right added.
  • The constitution was amended for the 111^th time to include the word “ to form cooperatives” in the article 19 as a sub clause 'c' of clause 1.
  • The amendments will ensure accountablity and management of cooperatives and provide for deterrence for the violation of the provision of the law.
