NATIONAL NEWS
  • University Grants Commission announces phasing out of animal dissection
    • The UGC has announced the phasing out of animal dissection for experimental purposes at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. New methods such as virtual dissection will replace the earlier methods. Further, animal ethics will also be included to sensitise students.
  • India – China put off border talks in the last minute; negotiating new dates
    • India and China suddenly put of the scheduled border talks without any explanation. Representatives of both the countries issued similar statements saying that they were negotiating dates for the 15th round of Special Representative Talks;
    • Shiv Sankar Menon is the Indian representative for the talks. The last round of talks were held last year after the ASEAN summit.
  • Govt issues clarification to Essar saying that the 'Go - No Go' classification for mining has been done away with and that approval will now on be given on a case to case basis

  • Egypt goes on protest to install civilian Govt and remove the military one
  • Myanmar's National League of Democracy lead by Aung Sang Suu Kyi has moved to re-registering the party
