NATIONAL NEWS
  • Supreme court restates legislation on key subjects
    • With the aim of restating the key legal principles and the prepositions with accuracy the supreme court has constituted a panel under the chairmanship of Justive. R.V Raveendran in association with the Indian Law Institute (ILI).
    • The subjects chosen for the pilot project are legilative privilages, contempt of court and public interest litigations.
    • The objective of this project was to esentially codify supreme court judgements on important areas where there was no statues or clarifications required.
    • The compilations of the jugements will be a reference material for the lawyers and others.
  • Global meet on climate change
    • A three day internation conclave and Exhibition on Climate Change (ICCC) is to be held in Hyderabad
    • It will focus on challenges, combat strategies and adaption measures to contain the menacing effect
  • Manmohan's vision behind Oxford's new governance school
    • Prime minister Manmohan Singh is regarded as the visionary behind the 100 million euro high profile centre of excellence set up to train a new generation of world leaders.
    • The Blavatnik School of Government set up by the 75million euro's by the Russian American Leonard Blavatnik will have close links with Indian academicians and policy makers.

    • According to the new “ adopt a female foetus” idea, if the families chose to and if in case it is a female foetus then the government will adopt it.
    • Under this scheme government would ensure the safety of the foetus until it is born through its network anganwadi workers, auxillary nurses, midwives, and social health activists.
    • The mother and the family will also be given generous incentives, worth carrying on with the delivery.

  • Foreign secretary will review the projects in Sri lanka.
    • New foreign secretary Ranjan mathai will review the development projects done in the war ravaged northern Sri lanka.
    • New Delhi is to build 50,000 houses for the Tamils who have been rehabilitated.
    • IRCON, a Railways project, where the norther parts are being connected to Colombo is also supported by India.
    • Another project, Kankesanthurai Harbour project is also supported by India.
  • Nobel for promoting peace, democracy and gender equality.
    • The nobel peace prize was awarded to three women, from africa and arab for promoting peace, democracy and gender equality.
    • The winners are liberian president Ellen Johnson, peace activist Lyemah Gbowee and Tamkul karman of Yemen , a pro democracy campaigner.
